About Finding Sakeenah
Finding Sakeenah is dedicated to spreading the message of simple and purposeful living for the sake of Allah with Muslims around the world.
We believe that every Muslim deserves access to quality resources on simple and purposeful living, and the ultimate source of tranquillity and guidance - the Qur’an.
That's why, along with plans to continue to provide quality free monthly content on the Finding Sakeenah platform, we want to launch a groundbreaking Qur’an program designed to make the Qur’an easy and accessible to non-Arabic speakers in a completely new way.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Make things easy for the people, and do not make it difficult for them, and make them calm (with glad tidings) and do not repulse (them). Sahih Bukhari
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.

Now, more than ever, the need for us to strengthen our eeman, to connect with the Qur’an and to seek its guidance, its comfort and its protection is clear. But for many, this goal can feel out of reach. We want to change that!

This is a Qur'an Program Specifically for Non-Arabic Speakers
Many Qur’an programs use teaching techniques and resources that have been designed by Arabic native-speakers for Arabic native-speakers and many follow a Juz-by-Juz approach to memorisation. This can present challenges and be a barrier for reverts and non-Arabic speakers on their Qur'an journey.
Qur'an Essentials offers a new approach.
By combining traditional teaching techniques with innovative foreign-language teaching methods, we aim to make the Qur’an accessible to non-Arabic speakers in an entirely new way.
With a focus on the most-often used chapters and verses first.
Our ‘less is more’ approach emphasizes understanding and practical application of each verse or chapter.
Ibn Masud (ra) said of the companions, “When one of us learned 10 ayahs, he would not move beyond then until he understood their meaning and applied what was in them”

What Sets Qur'an
Essentials Apart
- The Program will focus on practical verses for daily life: Our curriculum will prioritize verses and chapters that we need and use every day: Al Fatiha (salat, ruqya), the 3 Quls and Ayat al Kursi (protection), the last 2 Ayat of Surat Al Bagarah, the first and last 10 verses of Surat Al Kahf (protection from the Dajjal)
- It will include teaching techniques and resources specifically designed for non-native speakers - opening the doors of Qur'an in an entirely new way and making learning easier.
- It includes word-for-word translation building an understanding of the Qur’an, not just rote memorisation of sounds.
- It includes simple tafseer of the verses and chapters, fostering deeper understanding and connection to Allah’s Book.
- It emphasises practical application of the verses and chapters in daily life.
- It simplifies tajweed: teaching correct recitation practically without excessive emphasis on detailed rules.
- It includes memorisation: students will have memorised the key verses and chapters by the end of the year.
- It includes Arabic reading: By the end of the program, students will not only comprehend and have memorised the verses but they will also be able to read Qur’anic Arabic.
- The pace is slow and steady with a 'less-with-understanding-and-application is more' approach
- Resources are designed for all learning styles
The long term vision
To Develop 3 Levels for Qur'an Essentials
Level 1: Arabic reading, Al Fatiha, Surat al Iklhas, Sural al Falaq, Surat an Nas, Ayat al Kursi, last 2 ayat of Surat Al Baqarah, first and last 10 ayat of Surat al Kahf.
Level 2: Recitation of Surat al Kahf
Level 3: Recitation Surat al Baqarah
The Goal: Within 3 years, students would have mastered Qur’an Essentials to use in their daily lives and be able to read and recite Arabic, opening the doors to the rest of the Qur’an, in sha Allah.
But that's not all...
We plan to make the Qur'an Essentials Program, Resources & Teacher Training available to Qur'an Centres and Qur'an teachers worldwide, bi'ithnillah.

Once the program has run as a beta and been refined, the goal is to make it available for to Qur'an centres and teachers, along with teacher training, for a small fee.

Qur'an Essentials is a coming together of ideas, expertise and experience in teaching Qur'an memorization and recitation, education, online Islamic studies, teaching foreign language students, program and resource development and more - bringing together Muslims from 3 continents in a collaborative effort for the sake of Allah.
